(also called e-cards) Greeting cards can also be sent electronically. Flash-based cards can be sent by email, and many sites such as Facebook enable users to send greetings. More recently, services have launched which enable users to send greetings to a mobile phone by text message or use mobile app for this purpose such cards are called Mobile E-cards or MCards. Many of these electronic services offer open or anonymous chat, to enable further discussion.
By the 1850s, the greeting card had been transformed from a relatively expensive, handmade and hand-delivered gift to a popular and affordable means of personal communication, due largely to advances in printing, mechanization, and a reduction in postal rates with the introduction of the postage stamp.[4] This was followed by new trends like Christmas cards, the first of which appeared in published form in London in 1843 when Sir Henry Cole hired artist John Calcott Horsley to design a holiday card that he could send to his friends and acquaintances. In the 1860s, companies like Marcus Ward & Co, Goodall and Charles Bennett began the mass production of greeting cards. They employed well known artists such as Kate Greenaway and Walter Crane as illustrators and card designers. The extensive Laura Seddon Greeting Card Collection from the Manchester Metropolitan University gathers 32,000 Victorian and Edwardian greeting cards and 450 Valentine's Day cards dating from the early nineteenth century, printed by the major publishers of the day.[5]
Cover Verse: There are in the end three things that last: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 Inside Verse: Though your heart must hold deep sadness right now, may it also hold the blessings of the love that will always be a part of you... Praying that God will comfort your heart, uplift your spirit, and carry you through this time of sadness.

You wouldn’t get everyone in your life the same birthday present, so don’t settle for anything less than the perfect happy birthday card for your honoree. Start with a card featuring cake, macarons, or balloons in vivid colors and patterns that you’d never find at the party supply store. Cards stamped in silver, rose gold, and gold foil make every birthday a milestone (we won’t guess which one). There are even new rainbow and holographic foil choices for the recipient who lives in the future, but can’t resist a wee bit of sparkle. For something truly unique to the two of you, our photo birthday cards let you use a snapshot as the backdrop to your fond wishes—a lovely memento of the previous year, and the many more to come. It’s easy to add photos, crop and filter them, and accentuate your delivery with an envelope liner or designed online backdrop. If you’re a label-conscious gift-giver, pick out a card from design luminaries and master stationers like kate spade new york and Mr. Boddington’s Studio. There’s something for pretty, witty, or just plain silly birthday boys and girls, at every level of taste and rarefaction. (And laughs. Don’t forget laughs.) We’ll make it easier to deliver, too. Once you’ve chosen just the right card for your superannuated friend, use our online design tool to customize the wording and wrap up any lingering details with a figurative bow.

The Greeting Card Association is an international trade organization representing the interests of greeting card and stationery manufacturers. John Beeder, former president of the Greeting Card Association, says greeting cards are effective tools to communicate important feelings to people you care about: "Anyone feels great when they receive an unexpected card in the mail. For me, there’s nothing like a greeting card to send a special message. I’m proud to be a part of an industry that not only keeps people connected, but uses both imagery and the power of words to help us express our emotions.”

I specifically left the themes on the date night cards fairly generic so that you could use a little creativity with your dates. So if you picked something like “Go Bowl,” it doesn’t necessarily have to mean go bowling. It could mean going out for noodle bowls for dinner, going and creating bowls at a paint your own pottery studio, or really anything you take it to mean.

Don’t limit yourself, though. Offer your good sentiments unsparingly (but prudently) with our free online greeting cards. We’re happy to prompt you with bon mots for every moment—and a few just-because cards for no moment in particular. Send a good luck card to wish a friend a sporting chance or a congratulations card if their victory outpaced you. For a recipient who’s more than a friend, letters of love are a perfect way to supplement your sweet nothings with romantic designs. (If you’re thinking about lust, we’ll defer to your better judgment on that.) We do hope you’ll have a chance to follow up with an anniversary card—you can schedule it in advance to avoid forgetting, but be sure to pick up a good gift, too.
A greeting card is an illustrated piece of card stock or high quality paper featuring an expression of friendship or other sentiment. Although greeting cards are usually given on special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas or other holidays, such as Halloween, they are also sent to convey thanks or express other feelings (such as to get well from illness). Greeting cards, usually packaged with an envelope, come in a variety of styles. There are both mass-produced as well as handmade versions that are distributed by hundreds of companies large and small. While typically inexpensive, more elaborate cards with die-cuts or glued-on decorations may be more expensive.
Artist Notes:	Could there be a more fun and colorful way to Happy Birthday to friends, family or business colleagues this year? The message "Wish Big for your birthday" appears in big, colorful letters, overlapping each other, with both of the letter "i's" transforming into candles, with flames atop them. The black background makes the brightly colored letters pop out in celebration. The inside wording of the card is "May all your birthday wishes come true!"

I love to cook and decided that I need a recipe card box out of sheer hatred for the add-filled, biographical oubliettes that food websites have become. I'm not using microsoft word, so i didnt even bother trying to download the templates, but I just set the page format to center on the measurements of the cards and everything printed predictably. My printer had no trouble with the card stock and I didn't even have to change the settings, which is great because I totally forgot to check that.

Cover Verse: An Irish Blessing May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face And the rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. Inside Verse: God bless you with the joy of His presence and the gift of His love on St. Patrick's Day and always.
In the 1970s, Recycled Paper Greetings, a small company needing to establish a competing identity against the large companies like Hallmark Cards, began publishing humorous, whimsical card designs with the artist's name credited on the back. This was away from what was known as the standard look (sometimes called the Hallmark look.)[citation needed] By the 1980s, there was a thriving market for what were now called "alternative" greeting cards, and the name stuck even though these "alternative" cards changed the look of the entire industry.
There’s just something about a paper greeting card that never loses its charm for some of us. We like to hold the greeting in our hands, feel the crisp paper, run our fingers over the words and pictures as if we were trying to absorb the essence of the message. Most of all we like to see the handwritten notes and the signatures of our loved ones. While ecards may be viewed instantly and forgotten over time, printed cards can be saved, cherished and shared for years. Although ecards have replaced printed cards in many instances as the more convenient, inexpensive and quick mode of wishing one another, printed cards still retain that special quality that electronic messages cannot convey effectively.
